Welcome to Marjack. I am Mary C. Jackson and have had Boxers since 1950. My first Boxer, Marjack's Golden Girl, was a present from Suzanne Ormond in return for exercising her dogs. Her sire came from the famous Von Dom Kennels and had been purchased by the Princess of Alpenrose Castle to be a part of her stud force. World War II changed all that. Starvation and inability to care for her dogs drove the Princess to part with some of her best stock and a Sergeant in the US Army "purchased" Enzian VD Alpenrose for potatoes, canned meat and other staples. Enzian was then hidden at the base and brought over to the States at the end of the war. Suzanne found him one evening at an oyster bar in New Orleans sipping his own mug of beer and bought him from the Sergeant who was then shipping out to a foreign base and couldn't take the dog.
Golden Girl's dam was a Berolina bred bitch whose bloodlines went back again to Von Dom. Thus by fate or luck, I now had the famous Utz-Dorian cross which produced such lovely dogs.
Golden Girl was a "near miss" as a show dog. She had the elegance that Bang Away had introduced but was too "German" in conformation (tail set and angulation) to garner points in the show ring. She always won her class, however, and we were HOOKED.
As my father was a Naval officer, we moved often and during a tour of duty in Seattle, we saw some dogs of Bladan background at the shows. They were "afire" in color and temperament as well as beautiful in conformation. They were the epitome of the modern show dog and it was decided to breed Golden Girl to Ch. Salal's Sure Conceit. From that first litter came our International Champion Marjack's Golden Mist.
Misty was not only a great show dog, winning BIS All Breeds and many Groups, but was a producer in the whelping box as well. She was bred to Ch. Captain Lookout of Thorhall and produced 5 Champions, some of whom became producers in their own right. I am very proud that I can say that this girl is in the bloodlines of the winning dogs and kennels of today. I can still see her wonderful contribution to the breed in the top boxers that are winning in the ring in 1997. I assure you that it is a thrill for me to see the efforts of "the oldtimers" such as Frau Stockmann and Dan Gordon still coming through and enhancing our wonderful breed.
Marjack has bred only 5 litters while active in the show ring. We have had 2 BIS All Breeds winners, 1 Dam of Merit, 1 Sire of Merit, 2 Producers, 3 Multiple Champion litters, many ABC awards and probably most important of all, we have been the foundation for some of the finest kennels of today. Ch. Forest Gate's Spark of Marjack is the grandsire of Ch. Brumble Carolina Star, a dog who is behind most of the big winners in the U.S. Two of the multiple Ch. litters contained 10 Chs.
I have purchased 2 Boxers in recent years (Ringo & Danny) and finished both. Ch. DT's IBN's Legacy of Har-Vel known as "Toddy" was my constant companion until his death at 13+ years old.
Dog showing is an addiction and just when I am certain I am done with the whole thing, I get the itch again. That is how Frankie came into my life and I am enjoying being in the game again (well, most of the time).
I hope you have enjoyed your visit with me and my guys. Please check out the other links and see more wonderful Boxers.
