The "Anoraks" Page. |
This page will cover "Planes, Trains & Automobiles". For all you "Spotters" |
Well as the name "Anorak" suggests this page is a bit of a "Spotters" corner, and many peolpe have mentioned that I might be a closet spotter in my spare time. They are not far from the truth but my interest in "Trains, Planes & Automobiles" stems mainly from working with them from an early age. I was riding and "Spannering" motorcycles at the age of 12 and from that my interest grew to include many other modes of transport. After attending Stockport College of Technology, where I passed my "City & Guilds of London" Motor Cycle Techicians course, my first job was as a Motorcycle Technician for Moretons of Altrincham in Cheshire. There the foreman Dave, took me under his wing and it is because of his attention to detail and professional approach that he passed on to me, I always try to do my very best what ever Iam under taking even now. At one stage I was a mechanic for a couple of Side Car racing teams and I helped the "Lads" when they went off "Moto "X"ing" at the weekends too. I served in the "Fleet Air Arm" as a Air Engneering Mechanic (Airframe & Engines) so that's where I got involved in Helicopters and Aircraft in general. At present I am working out here in Dubai U.A.E. on fast jets so I am still involved with aircraft every day. While a was working at R.N.A.S. Culdrose in Cornwall one of my work mates Ralph had a Land Rover 110 "Rally Recovery Unit". Over a period of 10 months I attended many 4X4 off road and Rally events with Ralph, Bob (other crew member) and the "Western Recovery Unit. Before leaving for Dubai in 1998, I sat and passed my assesment for my RAC MSA Recovery Licence which enabled me to become a full member of the team & it's with thanks to the members of A.M.R.O. for setting up the training program for the recovery boys. Any way as I up date this page I will try and cover all my interests I hope you enjoy your visit. |
