Friendship Façade

I won’t beg for your attention

I’m sorry, that’s not me.

If we’re to be true friends,

You’ll eventually have to see.

If friendship was a road,

Cars would travel both ways.

But trying to be your friend,

Is like running blind through a maze.

I don’t know when you’re happy,

I don’t know when you’re sad,

I don’t know when I’ve done something

That may have made you mad.

Not only do you not tell me,

What’s going on inside

You speak to me so rarely

It’s like you’re trying to hide.

I made a promise to you,

And promises I always keep.

I’ll be there if you call me,

But for now, our friendship sleeps.
