After some hard work on a research project, my co-worker / project manager Jen took me and the other analyst on the project out for an "off-site" (i.e. afternoon off in the city).  And Alcatraz really is fun to visit, I kid you not.  You get a picturesque boat ride (well, if you luck out with a sunny day like we did), a tape tour with voices of actual prisoners, learn about the attempts to escape, and you can even shut yourself in the isolation chamber to see what it's like to be cut off from civilzation for weeks on end.  Well, not really...

especially because we treated ourselves to hot cocoa at Ghirardelli's afterwards.  Life is hard.
