mark feldman's summer trip - stop #5
chicago, il - june 1-3
this was yet another city that i could have spent so much more time in.  the first day there i tried to do too much and nearly ended up losing my camera as a result, so i took a deep breath and realized that no trip is going to be all-inclusive, and picked a few things to do, and that was that.
so what were those things?  they included the mind-blowing chicago art institute with the most impressive collection i have ever laid eyes upon, an architectural tour of the classic skyscrapers, a visit to the sears tower observatory (i wasn't too lucky with the visibility but did get a cool pic of the hancock tower coming out of the clouds), the immense museum of science featuring a coal mine ride and a giant heart you can walk into, a couple of frank lloyd wright's houses, some ribs and deep dish pizza, and of course wrigley field.
wrigley is perhaps even purer a baseball experience than my hometown fenway park - there are no ad banners, jumbotron games, or loud rock music in between innings, just baseball, a manually operated scoreboard, and mediocre (at best) food, the way it was meant to be.  alas, the cubbies lost 4-1 to the astros and the still-dominant roger clemens.  the game was close for 7 innings, but cubs manager dusty baker blew it by leaving his starting pitcher in too long.  sound familiar, sox fans?  i'm proud to say i called this one - "he's playing with fire" i exclaimed, and my neighboring cub fans (seeing my red sox cap) agreed.

before we go further, let's admire an architect...
