mark feldman's summer trip
colorado part 2 - july 13-16
my 4 days in the denver area included (deep breath), coors brewery, red rocks amphiteatre, the garden of the gods (right), a stroll around downtown, celestial seasonings (tea-ery?), the USA olympic training facility, and (naturally...)
a rockies game at coors field!  they were playing the san francisco giants, so my loyalties were torn - i decided i just wanted to see a good game, and i was rewarded with a seesaw battle that ended with the rockies "closer" hitting a batter with a pitch with the bases loaded to force in the tying run, and then a little-league-esque wild pitch / overthrow to put the giants ahead for good, though the rockies nearly came back in the bottom of the 9th.
my final day in denver was my lucky day!  my great aunt and uncle (above) hosted me for a delicious lunch in boulder, and i won not one but TWO things by answering trivia questions - a book about herbs at celestial seasongins for identifying canada as their second highest consumer of tea after the usa, and a free scoop of ice cream that evening for identifying the "roman romp" that won a Tony in 1963.  thanks, mom and dad, for taking me to it when i was 14!  but really, how many roman musicals are there anyway?
i think i'm in the mood for some ancient cliff dwellings.
