mark feldman's summer trip
los angeles - august 5-6
finally, at about 11:30 am on thursday, august 5th, i entered california!  i soon experienced the state's two biggest inevitabilities; i had mexican food for lunch, and ran into insane traffic on the freeway.  i arrived in l.a. that evening worn out but happy.
the remainder of the pictures on this page feature dodger stadium, at which i attended a game on friday the 6th, the eve of my arrival in berkeley.  i did other things in los angeles too, but nothing really worth taking pictures of, or in the case of the art museum, nothing i was allowed to take pictures of.  but in any case, the final game of my summer trip was one of the most memorable.  firstly, dodger stadium is not to be missed.  it's as classic california as a stadium can get, from the terraced palm tree-d parking lot to the "THINK BLUE" sign on top of the hill, to it being just so unbelievably clean.  secondly, the game was a thriller - the visiting phillies hit four home runs in the first two innings and led 5-0, but the dodgers bullpen shut the phils down while their hitters eventually tied the score in the 8th.  the 11th inning began with the dodgers' star reliever eric gagne on the mound - surely nothing could go wrong, right?  wrong!  in a rare showing of imperfection, gagne allowed the phillies to score FOUR runs, all with two outs.  i think i must be a jinx to the dodgers - last time i was there in 1995, they had to forfeit the game because the fans were throwing giveaway baseballs on the field!
anyway, that's it!  i drove up to berkeley the next day, and the town, the school, and my house were all waiting for me.  life goes on, the next chapter begins... thanks for coming to my website, and now you know where to find me!
