Mark's Midi Page

"... That which "looks over" the various factors which arise in
meditation is 'sati', mindfulness. Sati is life. Whenever we
don't have sati, when we are heedless, it's as if we are dead...
This sati is simply presence of mind. It's cause for the arising
of self-awareness and wisdom... Even when we are no longer in
samadhi, sati should be present throughout..."

Midi

These MIDI files were composed and recorded about 8 years ago, using a Roland GR-1 Guitar Synthesizer and sequencing software.  Although crude, I think it's good to remember where you got started.

Ground Zero*

...standing moments away from impact, everything goes silent, then a noise from down the alley starts to grow...

Into The Void*

Most of us have been sucked into something painful, against our will. This track is an attempt to capture that feeling in sound

Rumble Fish*

This is the title track of this Web page.  It was composed and recorded on a Saturday in 1998, and that same evening used in an extensive jam with the obscure, rarely-mentioned rock group: Swim Test

CDR63*

This was to be a theme song for a project with  friend, Curt West of West Research

Illicit Plutonium*

I don't remember where the name for this song came from, but it won an award once...

Kiss My Butt Rap*

Title says it all

MP3

More recently I started transferring much of my old 4-track recordings to digital, and then publishing them in .mp3 format.  Since I'm more of an "analog" guitarist, than a "digital" midi composer - it's likely that my future contributions will be coming here.

After Funk*

This is an after-show jam that I played with a group in college.  A live version was never recorded, and I don't think it was ever given a name.  After college I programmed the basic structure into the Roland GR-1 and put it to 4-track with some jammin' guitar; and named it After Funk.  Credits to Matt, Carl and Brad wherever you are!
Sea-Side* Sea-Side was originally composed on 12-string while at college in Laramie, WY - jammin' with my friend Vince at the Ground Zero record store.  On this 1993 recording I played a 6-string Sigma (cheap Martin) using 2 little Sony condenser microphones; to stereo 4-track.  The original 4-track had sounds of ocean waves and seagulls on track 3 & 4...ahhhhh!
Road Trip* This jam was written in summer of 1993, again using the Roland GR-1 sequencer for the rhythm section and then going to 4-track to add lead guitar.  I was given words for the "up-beat middle section" of the chorus: "I'm on a road trip baby, road trip goin' nooooo where, I'm on a road trip goin' all the way...down"
