God
My belief in God is axiomatic. It is something that I assume before logic begins. Because my faith on this subject is pre-rational I do not think that it is possible or necessary to prove God's existence. I recognize of course that I could be wrong and try to be tolerant of people who start out with different assumptions. I am open to the thinking from a variety of faith groups especially of course Latter Day Saint theology but also including Orthodox Christianity (both Catholic and Evangelical), other unorthodox Christians (like the Jehovah's Witnesses), Islam and especially it's derivative the Bahai Faith, and Judaism. I was an agnostic for a long time so am sympathetic to those that and unsure or unconvinced about God. While I obviously have little in common with those that profess atheism I do make it a point to be aware of their assumptions and the reasoning that follows from them.
I tend toward transcendental monotheism though it is somewhat out of step with LDS doctrine. It is typical among Christians to personify (anthropomorphize) God. I try to avoid doing this to a great degree, because mere flesh and bones does not in my opinion compare to God. Muslim in my understanding have a vice called shirk. This is the comparison of God to earthly things. I am convinced that God is not restricted from using earthly vessels and that he is not confined to a single physical body. I am soft on the vice of shirk because I think God uses things that we can compare to better relate to us but still sympathetic to those who see it as a sin because I don't feel God can be defined by those comparisons
