2/20 - "May god be with you", "God's sittin this one out": My job isnt all fun and games. I have had to work hard to earn my fame and dedicated fans who throw their panties at me like rice at a wedding. Some people, however, think that it is easy to do. Actually, they are right. I have opened and invitation for anyone to write any opionated, original article they want and I might just post it on the site. Submit it under comments and criticism as a Word attachment, and if youre a good intelligent writer, youll see it here. The first article I have is written by a friend of mine about a clever anology. He choses to remain anonymous, for obvious reasons. Check it out under the guest rants section. Now for what you came for: In the past decade, an uproar over the increasingly violent tendencies in American culture and there effect on young children have continually been called into question. Everytime Ice T calls himself a cop killa or Marylin Manson shows gay cops dancing around, every stupid ass parent in America tries to explain how these contributed to Columbine. The issue comes to mind now after witnessing the miracle that is the Punisher video game. Purchased for my friend as a Valentine's Day present (this holiday has some redeeming quality after all), it has proven to not only be the best comic-book to videogame transistion, keeping in mind that the movie was just as well done and amazing, but it may also be one of the best videogames released in a while. The inherent problem of course is that it may also be the most violent game ever made. And I quote "Never before have I considered a video game too violent, but the Punisher made me reconsider this" - professional reviewer, gamezilla.com. But does the apparent level of violence in this videogame encourage people to kill things? Theres not 10 minutes of my life that doent pass where I dont consider dropping out of school, taking steroids, investing in a couple of 50 cal handguns, chugging Wild Turkey from the bottle, and wreaking havoc on the evil people of the world responsible for the death of my family, Berto may obsess over it and make suggestions as to murdering multiple people, and Anthony may get drunk and throw box of mac and cheese throwing knife style at anyone who gets near him, but we dont count. The truth is, if any kid really considers going on rampages like this, he has been failed by his parents. The parents attack videogames, movies, music, etc. because they are oblivious to the times we live in. They attack to hide their lack of judgement and responsability they have for raising their own kids. Kids in America are introduced to society at such a young age now, and are exposed in such a way that parents are helpless to stop it. There are kids expirementing in drugs at the age of 9, carrying knives to school in sixth grade and in jail buy the time they can understand why their cell mate is about to rape them. And who's fault is it? Its the parents fault. And it pisses me off to no end when these dumb ass baby boomers try to act like they did everything they could for their kid but they were failed by society. Listen pops, you grew up in a time where youre biggest worry was about being invaded by communist Russia. Your kids today are faced with gang issues, peer pressure, and more drugs and violence you ever knew existed in your days hitting the old stickball down at the park. Listen to your fucking kid, if they do something stupid, its for a reason. Find out why, talk to them, hell, beat the shit out of them, I dont care, just do something besides just sit their. I have decided I am going to become the Punisher. I will stalk through suburbia with high powered machine guns, pumping cold lead into the bodies of moronic parents who have ruined a generation of children and fail to take the blame for it. At this point, I would like to thank my parents for raising me the way they did. |
