Old Rants
3/7 - The rise and fall of black America:  So I made a huge mistake with the whole making fun of Abercrombie and stupid ass American Eagle clothes last week.  I left out Hollister, possibly the king of the homosexual community.  Lets take an activity that has nothing to do with fashion (surfing) and base a trendy clothing shop on it.  Whoever thought of that was truly a marketing genius.  Its degrading to anyone who thinks of surfing as more than a way to look cool.  What has America come to.  Furthermore, what has rap music come to?  The shit that I hear occasionally while ridin gin someones car or walking into Berto's room blows my mind.  There are too things that really get to me: 1) Black people sacrificing all the dignity theyve worked so hard to earn over the past two hundred years and 2) the fact that anyone listens to it.  Dont get me wrong, there are some intelligent, musically inclined rappers and producers, most of which are dead or out of the business.  And the shit that rap and hip-hop has "evolved" into is atrocious.  There are too many songs to name which illustrate this point, most of which I avoid and therefore dont know the name to.  I guess I can site villains like Chingy, anything by the Hot Boyz, Ja Rule, whoever made that song called "Everything real big" and just about anyone on BET.  Lets look back.  Rap begin in the late 70s and early 80s with intelligent and incredibly talented people like Grandmaster Flash and Run DMC who paved the path for a new inventive type of sound to counter the terrible way rock music was headed.  It was taken farther in the 80s by people who built off the ingenuity such as the Beastie Boys and Public Enemy.  "Yo! Bum Rush the Show" maybe one of the most influential albums of the past 25 years.  In the early 90s, there is only one acronym that matters: NWA.  Hello Ice Cube, nice to meet you Dr Dre, whats up Eazy E, MC Ren, youre cool too.  Hands down, most talent ever assembled into a rap album.  Enter Cypress Hill and Ice T.  Now lets look at what these groups from the early 90s and late 80s (minus the Beastie Boys) stood for:  they hated white people.  Absolutely loathed every white piece of shit they saw.  Music was their way of breaking through the oppression forced on them.  Their music had a reason, it had a voice, it said something.  Fast forward ten years: "car real big, house real big, everything real big..."  You my friend are an idiot.  In one song, you have proven to everyone with any common sense you are the academic level of a 3 year old.  Rap music today says nothing, means nothing and has no voice.  There is only one reason it is made: to sell cds.  Chingy has nothing to tell me.  The Hot Boyz deal with no issues in life besides backing that ass up or making lots of money.  An no matter how many times Ja Rule tries to tell me he is a gangster, something tells me that he is lying.  He cant be taller than four foot even.  Eazy E is rolling in his grave everytime Lil Jon says anything.  Tupac dies a little more everytime Nelly puts that bandaid on his face.  Attention balck people, you have been sold out by these people.  They have betrayed your race and wellbeing.  They would rather have another diamond in their teeth then see the life of anyone in Compton, Englewood, or Harlem improved.  And the whole time, the white kids love it.  Im not sure why its popular but I think Ive figured it out.  For every "rap" or "hip-hop" cd that a white person buys, they are able to indirectly oppress black people legally.  Think about it, when the person the most people of your ethnicity identify with is P Diddy, you are fucked.  Eveything that people like Martin Luther King and Malcolm X worked so hard for was destroyed the minute Lil Jon was conceived.  These "musicians" are giving their entire culture a black eye and are too supid to see it.
