Political Thoughts

How well you fit in with the society you live in determines your political outlook. Those alienated from society are political left, and want to oppress the non-alienated.
If you feel at home in society you are political right and want to restrict those who don't fit in.

Governments restrict. They either restrict the majority (republican form of government) or restrict minorities (most other forms).

The best indication of a malfunctioning political system is when citizens or their property are restricted from leaving.

Nice places to live can assess higher taxes without driving people away.

An efficient society is one where each individual pays most of the costs of their own actions.

Small states are more efficient. Once a state increases beyond a certain size it becomes easy for individuals to free-ride.

Small states have trouble defending themselves against big states.

Organisms are healthiest psychologically when they can control their environment and associate with whom they want.

The best survival strategy for individual organisms is not the golden rule but tit-for-tat: Start peaceful. If attacked – retaliate. Then forgive.

The greatest weakness of participatory political systems is they tend to shortchange the future.

Deflation occurs naturally due to technology improvements and population increases. If government could print just enough cash to eliminate deflation, it could get something for nothing.
