I have passed my first grade (out of 10 to black belt) and have taken part in one competition - in a proper boxing ring - which was very intimidating for a first fight let me tell you.
I unfortunately lost but it was close according to the ref who said I was one of the best first competitions attempts he'd seen (trying to build myself up after admitting defeat)
I enjoyed it up to a certain extent but it did damage my confidence a bit (but thankfully its slowly returning)
