Marlborough Pride Neighborhood Association - Minutes June 14, 2001
President Tonya Hood called the meeting to order at 6:35 P.M.
1. Attendance:
Six neighborhood residents were present. The KCPD had three representatives present.
2. Public Safety Update:
Sgt. James Pearce, P.O. John Straubel and P.O. Jim Schulte of the Kansas City Police Department attended. They first asked if the residents had any concerns or problem areas. Neighborhood crime is not down, but nothing out of the ordinary has occurred recently. This has allowed them to concentrate their efforts in other areas of the city. If residents have any problems, they can contact the officers.
3. President's report:
Tonya Hood made this report:
- Issues of concern for the City Council may be faxed to Romanda Dokes (Alvin Brooks' Assistant) at 513-1612. Areas of concern may include (but are not limited to) such things as drains, leaks or city water. All faxes should state a specific problem and give details as to how the resident has attempted to rectify the problem.
- The Marlborough Community Center needs input on our areas of interest. If anyone would like to see a particular program offered, contact the Community Center.
- The City Planning and Development Department is having public hearings to solicit recommendations for modification of city council boundaries. There will be three meetings. Monday, June 11 at Hillcrest Community Center, Monday June 18 at Brush Creek Community Center, 3801 Brush Creek Blvd and Wednesday, June 20 at Park Hill South High School, 4500 NW River Park Dr. All meetings will run from 7:00-9:00 P.M.
- East Meyer is having a picnic on June 24 at the Bandstand in Swope Park. Call 361-8070 to RSVP.
- A group picnic for all the Marlborough Neighborhood Associations is being planned for August or September.
- Tonya will check the status of the plan to lay sidewalks along Brooklyn close to Center Elementary and what can be done about the tall grass at 79th and Hickman Mills Drive and on East 80th.
- The next meeting will be July 12. Door prizes will be offered.
Having no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:20 P.M.
Alisa Lynch, Recording Secretary
