Marlborough Pride Neighborhood Association - Minutes September 13, 2001
Draft
President Tonya Hood called the meeting to order at 6:30 P.M.
1. Attendance:
Sixteen neighborhood residents were present. The Parks and Recreation Department had one representative present.
2. Public Safety Update:
No police officers were present.
3. Parks and Recreation Department:
David Burke, District Manager, email david_burke@kcmo.org, discussed Partners for Parks. This is an agreement between the Park Department and a neighborhood association where residents would take responsibility for a park. The Department would supply trash bags and residents would supply the labor to keep the park clean. The program maintains the park and discourages undesirable activity.
A resident felt that it was such a shame that Marlborough Park has so much land, but only has one shelter. The resident suggested that other gear be added such as playgrounds or basketball or tennis courts. Mr. Burke stated that anything other than basketball courts would have to be funded by PIAC (Public Improvements Advisory Committee) money.
It was suggested that an improvements to the park may keep children from playing in the street.
Dirt bikes and ATVs shouldn't be in the park.
4. Other:
A resident inquired about the status of the planned sidewalk on Brooklyn. Tonya will have someone at the next meeting to discuss the sidewalk.
5. President's Report:
Tonya Hood made this report:
- Crime is up, probably due to the lack of CAT officers.
- To report yards that need to be mowed, call Codes.
- The East Meyer Board members will be at the next meeting to conduct an election for MPNA President. Anyone wishing to run should attend the next meeting.
- The next meeting will be September 13.
6. Approval of Minutes
The August minutes were read. A resident suggested that the portion concerning free paint be changed to clarify that a homeowner would be able to paint his/her home him/herself. A motion was made and seconded to adopt the August minutes as modified. The motion carried.
Having no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:25 P.M.
Alisa Lynch, Recording Secretary
