SUPER GLYNN STEALS THE SHOW
Marlow’s
Mat Glynn lead the way with a brilliant midfield display capped by a superb hat
trick as the home team swept aside Prestwood with a six goal blast.
Looking
to bounce back from a disappointing return from the previous two games the home
team reaffirmed their aspirations in a rout that could easily have resulted in
double figures.
Kicking
off Marlow swept into a lead within
the first minute with Glynn firing home from 25 yards after sustained pressure.
Just
to remind the home team there were two teams on the pitch the pacy 0’Donoghue
rattled the Marlow bar and within a minute a Lewis cross was met by the same
player who forced the ball home from close range.
At
this stage of the game there was no indication of the final result as both sides
battled to gain the ascendancy.
It
was the home team who gradually imposed themselves on the match with Glynn
involved in much of the play.
On 10
minutes he supplied a pass for Buchanan in the area only for the Marlow man to
allow Slattery to save.
Sepede
then found Glynn in the area and the midfielder overran the ball when well
placed, minutes later the same player firing over from 25 yards as he attempted
to repeat his first minute effort.
United
regained their lead on 19 minutes, Sepede and Glynn combining to gain a corner
on the right. Sciaraffa’s in swinging kick was volleyed into his own net by
Prestwood’s Jones .
Slattery
in the Prestwood goal kept his side in touch minutes later brilliantly saving a chip from Middleton after the player was played in
by Glynn.
Prestwood
by this stage were offering little in attack with Clement firing a free kick
wide after Flint fouled O’Donohue on the left
being the only noteworthy effort.
Sepede
was guilty of missing a further opportunity for Marlow delaying his shot after
beating three defenders in the box.
Centre
half Gary Wiltshire then joined the action providing Ryan Davis an opportunity
which he fired over.
United
continued to dominate proceedings with Flint, Buchanan, Sepede
and Glynn all having chances to increase the lead.
They
did eventually notch the third goal when a Davis cross was met by Buchanan, his
shot being stopped on the line by Wright with his arm. The defender received
a caution for the offence and Davis converted the penalty giving United a
two goal cushion at the break.
Half
Time 3-1
The
second half really did become a procession of home attacks with Prestwood
defending desperately in an effort to ensure respectability to the scoreline.
Prestwood’s
Clement was booked for entering the field of play without the referee’s
permission as the second half commenced and Wiltshire was soon
in action, tackling O’Donoghue who found himself in the clear.
Buchanan,
Glynn, Lanaway and Davis were all involved in goal attempts as United failed to
convert their supremacy into goals.
On 62
minutes Cuva replaced Sepede as manager Carvell attempted to change the
attacking formation.
Sciaraffa
was booked for a rash challenge on Clements as Marlow continued to dominate the
game with Filmore having his shot
blocked after good work by Buchanan then sub Cuva seeing his volley find the
crossbar after Middleton and Buchanan combined to set up the chance.
Cuva
then found the side netting when well placed as Flint and Glynn played him into
the area.
With
10 minutes remaining Pedley and Ramsey were introduced for Davis and Filmore and
five minutes later Marlow eventually increased their lead with the goal of the
game with Pedley heavily involved.
His eventual cross
from the right to Ollie Flint was played back to Glynn who met the pass on the volley from around
twenty yards sending the ball screaming past the Prestwood defenders and
Slattery on the line.
Glynn
then completed his hat trick with a Pedley cross from a Ramsey corner being
glanced over the line from close range.
Ramsey
completed the scoring shooting home from an angle on the right to make it 6-1 in
the 89th minute.
Prestwood
secured their first corner of the half on 92 minutes but it was that man Glynn
who had the last word firing at Slattery after Cuva had robbed Lewis to set up
the chance.
