HALLOWEEN 2002 |
This year I haven't done much new stuff except for some additional zombie/corpses. I have been experimenting with different techniques this year. So far, I have always started with a bucky skull. I usually start with the teeth. I use a dremel tool to get the spaces in between and then use acrylic paints to whiten them up and then subsequently accent them yellowish/green. I stick something in their mouths and then use a hot glue gun to glue the jaw in place. This time I used paper mache' to shape the back of the skull and fill in under the jaw. I also had to drill the hole bigger in the base of the skull so I would have an easier time attaching the PVC neck. |
I've tried using paper towels, tissues, and cotton balls to cover the skull before applying latex mixed with paint for the flesh. I have found the easiest thing is to use rolls of cotton, (though cotton balls are way cheaper.) I have been struggling with getting a color I like. If you look at the 2001 corpses, they are kind of a muddy color. This year I tried a more reddish color and I tried gray. I also got an airbrush this year. I think once I find a color mixture I like, I'll be able to do some neat things with the air brush. The eyes are from a stress ball I bought. It was full of them. Just cut it open and you have a dozen or so eyeballs to work with. I didn't use a mold for my ears. I am simply not that talented. I use a big cotton ball and some rubber cement and mold it into the basic shape. Once it dries I cover it with the latex and attach it to the skull. I use PVC to create the bodies (finished picture coming soon). I usually use my husbands clothes to dress them (he hates that.) |
Here are our costumes. My Little guys look AWESOME! Mr. P. is a headless horseman. Mr. P's friend Mr. G is Sponge Bob Square Pants. (Mr. G's Mom is very creative every year with Mr. G's costumes) I am a zombie. I also went to a party as a witch. My friend from work, Todd, helped out in the garage as a werewolf. He was awesome! The picture does not do him justice. |
