THERE'S A ROUGH EDGE TO SORROW There's a rough edge to sorrow that's so hard to smooth away. No matter how you may work at it, the roughness just seems to stay. You can dry some of your tears with a flood still left in your heart. And you may tell yourself all is best, but the mind remains the lesser part. You may go about your business, which is what the world expects of you. And get on with your life - whatever, and somehow, hope to make it through. But there's a rough edge to sorrow, that's so hard to smooth away. And you simply hope that tomorrow is, at least, easier than today. copyright 2000 by Roland Ricker Click for more of my poems email me. |
