A PLAIN SPOKEN FRIEND

Lord, I love the way You tell it to me,
You speak plain and You make things clear.
You don't use phrases, lofty and fancy,
to bring me the Word, to bring it right here.

When I've done wrong and I lost  my way,
some friends scolded and said, "I told you, so."
I knew that I could count on You to say,
"It is done. It's past. Now come on, let's go."

When I felt sorry for myself and cried,
because of the cards that were dealt to me.
In no time at all ,You were by my side,
to say the cards were winners, wait and see.

Once I thought You had left me behind,
and I thought the door was locked ever more,
til I heard You whisper softly in my mind,
to take Your key, and then open the door.

Should the day come , we meet face to face,
I hope to say thank You, my Friend,
I am here at last in this glorious place,
that You brought me to, at my journey's end.
