I Never Saw a Shillelagh
I never saw a shillelagh,
nor stepped foot on the Emerald Isle,
I never heard a lullaby
sung to me, in that good old Irish style.

Never did I see those Irish kin,
who came here, long before my birth,
leaving behind what they loved so,
the greenest land, on God's good earth.

Nor have I walked and paraded,
in step with others, St. Paddy's Day,
nor drank green beer, nor ate green eggs,
or corned beef either, by the way.

Still, it's proud I am of my Irish blood,
so I wear the green, for the world to see,
come each and every St. Paddy's Day,
to thank God, for each drop of Irish in me.
