THE MASTER IS THE SERVANT

The King of Kings had little patience
with all foolish and earthly kings,
who strutted grand and peacock proud,
and saw such treasure in earthly things.

They were but circus clowns,
with only earthly power crowned,
who lorded it over others,
and forgot their common ground.

For the world's high and mighty
come from the same dust and air,
as those they call their servants-
these masters seen everywhere.

Today kings have other names,
president, prime minister and such,
who still rule as if by divine right,
and often, without a common touch.

Yes, major and minor kings,
they abound everywhere,
and they yield their earthly power
that is but dust and so much air.

Now, in this temporal world of ours,
some must follow and some must lead,
and those who rule should do so humbly
and follow God, and His words heed.

For the mightiest King of all
preached the beauty of humility-
that the master is the servant,
and the powerful, should humble be.
