OUR SPIRIT'S A MIGHTY AND AN AWESOME THING We can dream of peace and of days when we felt secure, but when we wake from dreams, we know some days are gone for sure. More than lives were lost on that 11th day of September, besides the precious many lost, are things we can but now remember. A time when this blessed land, was not scarred so by foreign foe, and a time when our people, felt mainly safe to come and go. A time when goodbyes came not so many and so fast, and we could say them with ease, not fearing they might be our last. A time when our children had questions we had answers for, and it was easy to calm their fears, when we, ourselves, felt secure. A time when we had few doubts, when the future meant a bright tomorrow, something to pin high hopes upon, not a promise of some new sorrow. Yes, much we held dear is gone for good, but still there's much will be returned, for our spirit's a mighty, awesome thing, a lesson our enemies soon will learn. copyright 2001 Roland Ricker |
