GOD AND THE LEAKY ROOF

There was a good, but simple man
whose name was Timothy.
He lived in a thatched cottage
in a village near the sea.

Once it rained so long and hard,
his roof leaked everywhere,
and when he wasn't emptying buckets,
he was spending time in prayer.

Oh, Lord, he prayed, have pity on me,
for my roof is leaking so.
Lord, please stop the rain for me,
I am getting tired as You know.

All at once, the rains stopped,
and the sun shone at its best.
Timothy was so happy,
at last he'd get a little rest.

No more buckets for me, he thought,
I'll have time for some fun.
Time to swim and time to play,
and to enjoy some days of sun.

Now for a very long time,
there was not a drop of rain.
And folks began to wonder,
the farmers, most to complain.

Timothy loved to thank the Lord,
for His holding back the rain,
and making sure no leaking roof
would ever trouble him again.

Then all at once, the sky was dark,
and the thunder began to roar,
and Timothy heard the drip drip drip
that had plagued him so much before.
