Book 39-
The Hidden

Oh, that was a nice picture.  And just what we didn't need.  My mother buzzing around the sky, searching for a lost Cape buffalo, while we dodged Yeerks in helicopters who were trying to kill us.
--Cassie

"Have I mentioned to all of you how much I hate this?  I mean, it just doesn't stop."
"Neither does your mouth."
--Marco, Rachel

<He's worried about you, Cassie.>
<He should trust me to do the right thing.>
<He does, or he would've made somebody else carry the cube.  That's why he
put me back here.  While you do the right thing, I do the necessary thing.>
--Rachel, Cassie

<Okay, let's do it.  Sorry, Rachel.  That's your line.>
<I'll let it slide this time.  But don't let it happen again.>
--Jake, Rachel

<Okay.  Let's go rescue a buffalo.>
--Jake

<You missed all the fireworks, Cassie.  One minute we're watching this whale the size of a FedEx truck dropping out of the sky and we're thinking
Uh-oh, she's not big enough to take down that helicopter and live through it-->   -Marco
<You weren't thinking it, you were screaming it.>  -Rachel
<Screeching like a bad set of brakes.>  -Jake
<Emitting a loud and continual series of high-pitched shrieks similar to an unauthorized entry into a Dome ship air lock.>  -Ax
Silence.
<Well, it was an accurate comparison.>  -Ax
<Yeah.  But it sure wasn't funny, Ax-man.>  -Marco
<Your humor is highly overrated.>  -Ax
<It certainly is when Marco uses it.>  -Jake

<Your wish is my command, Prince Jake.>   -Marco
<Then I wish you'd be quiet.>  -Jake
<Ha-ha!  Ha!....That was, I believe, the appropriate response to human humor,
correct?>  -Ax
<I quit.  If Ax is gonna "ha-ha" after all of Jake's feeble jokes from now on, I swear
I quit.>  -Marco
But he wouldn't and we knew it.  None of us would.  No matter how bad the odds.
Or the humor.   -Cassie
