Galadriel, a Noldorin princess, was daughter of Finarfin. She was the only women to have an imprtant role in the debate of the theft of the Simarils. She dwelt in Finrod on Til Sirion. When her brother moved to Nargothrond, she went to Doriath. This is where she met and married Celeborn. When Doriath fell, they fled to Arverien or the Mouths of Sirion. She was not permitted to return to Valinor. The reason is unknown.
In the Second Age Galadriel lived in Lindon and Eregion, and then founded Lorien. She then became Queen of Lorien. Her ring, Nenya, helped her found Lorien, which proved as a place of refuge throughout the Second and Third Age of Middle-Earth.
By the end of the Third Age Galadirel was alowed to fulfill her desire to return to Valinor in 3027. She departed with the Last Riding of the Keepers of the Ring. She was still the tallest and most beautiful maiden of her mother's kindred. Her many names included Lady of the Wood, Galadhriel, Lady of the Galadrim, Sorceress of the Golden Wood, Mistress of Magic, the White Lady, and Queen Galadriel.
