A New Life for
    My Couch

I got this couch from a friend that was getting rid of it many
years ago.  I had always hoped I would figure a place for her.

Here she is torn and tattered
Not bad after 75 years of hard living.

The first thing was to strip it right down to the frame.
Then Joe did frame repairs and refinishing.
Thank You Joe!!

Here she is with new webbing put on.
It is stretched tight to support the springs.

Springs are handsewn into place and then tied.

Then burlap is layed over the springs and stapled on.
And edgeroll is sewn to the front of the seat.

As the reupholstery process continues, the padding,
cotton, the original straw and horsehair is put back in place.
It was disturbed as little as possible when it was removed.
When it was replaced, a layer of new upholstery cotton is
added over the top before putting the fabric on.
