More Than That Chapter 4: "Vacation's All I Ever Wanted..." |
|||||||
~*3 Months Later*~ “Arlet! Phone! It’s Nick!” Sarah yelled from the kitchen. “Thanks Sarah! I got it up here!” Arlet yelled back from her room. “Hey Nick!” She said into the phone. “Hey Babydoll! How’re you doing?” Nick asked. “Really good. How was the tour?” “Really awesome, like always. I’m actually kind of sad it’s over.” “But I’m sure it feels great to be home at last.” “Definitely. I’m never home so I miss it so much. I finally get to see my dogs too. My neighbor had to look after them, you know, since my family was on the rode with me also.” “That’s good. Ah shit!” “What?” Nick laughed. “I dropped my glass of water. Now it’s all over my papers! Crap, it looks like The Backstreet Boys can’t be signed on to Schmarts’.” “What?!” “No, I’m just kidding.” Arlet said laughing. “The water is, at this moment, soaking up in my carpet. Oh yeah, I talked with Jive and we managed a deal.” “And?” “And we managed to get you guys signed with us but you still have to be signed with them until your contract expires. Jive still gets paid from your sales like before but we will get more of it. And as you know, we give the money to the artist and not keep most of it for ourselves. Also, we would be your main label. We will be named before Jive on music videos, albums etc. If you have a problem with something, you talk with us, not Jive. They just have to agree to whatever we or you say.” “Great! I’ll tell the guys when I get a chance.” “Don’t worry about it. I’ll call them so I can manage a date so I can meet up with all of you guys so you guys can sign the necessary papers.” “Perfect. Thanks so much! You’re the greatest!” “I know.” “Oh hey, I wanted to call to ask you something.” “Shoot.” “I was wondering if you want to come to Florida and hang out with me.” “Come to Florida for a vacation? I’m not sure. The last game of the Stanley Cup playoffs are next week I have to cheer Chris and Ville on with Sarah.” Arlet said shifting the phone to her other ear while she tried to organize her papers. “Who’s playing?” “Where have you been Mister? Have you been living under a rock? Detroit and Colorado, duh!” “Gees! I was just asking.” “Joking! Anyway, I’ll see after the game. Is that fine with you?” “Sure, you can come anytime. I’ll be home for awhile. You can stay as long as you want.” “Great. I need a vacation anyways. It’s like that Go Go’s song, ‘Vacations all I ever wanted. Vacation, time to get away.’” “Yeah. Well, I’ll talk to you later then. Call me when you decided on a date.” “Alrighty then. Hey, it was great to hear from you.” “Yeah, you too. Later.” “Bye.” Just as Arlet was hanging up the phone, Sarah walked into the room. “Wow, you two have gotten super close these past 3 months.” “Yeah we have. He’s gotten to be one of my best friends.” “I’m glad you’re happy. Do you like him?” “No Sarah. He’s my best friend but I hate his guts.” She replied sarcastically. “Duh! Yeah, I like him. What kind of a question is that?” “No, I mean do you like him, like more than a friend?” Arlet paused. “You know, I never really thought of that. He’s great and all but-” “But what?” “I don’t know. I never thought of Nick as more than a friend. He’s a great guy and I will admit, he has all the qualities I want in a guy it’s just that, I’ve never thought of him as something more.” Sarah nodded. “Well, I was just wondering. So, what did Nick want to talk to you about?” |
