Olive Green Cabin

This year's autumn vacation (yes, there is such a thing at the German school) we spent in the woods of Catoctin Mountain State Park. It's been quite cold for a while now, so we stayed at Olive Green Cabin of the Potomac Appalachian Trail Club. The cabin's name is not related to it's color but to the name of it's last owner. It has been constructed with local timber in the 19th century and has been restored by the PATC to the original condition of a single room log cabin.

The main room has space for a well sized table...

... and for a pot belly stove, that provides heating and cooking. Michael improved his pancake baking skills by several marks. It was that dark in the stove corner, you had to wear a head lamp for cooking. Sleeping was up some pretty steep stairs in the mezzanine. There were matresses for four people, so we had ample of space to cuddle.
