I once had a dream to make my business great
I needed to fill my day with things, I couldn't wait
To go to here and to go to there, always promoting me
I didn't see the time slipping by,  so gracefully

The works that I did needed,  more of my time
Knowing I'd reach the goal,  I had in mind
My presence was needed,  here and there
My family needed me too,  but I didn't care

When you stop to see,  the things that matter
It may be to late,  to hear the chatter
Of kids under foot or the game of Chance
Or you child's first school day or their first romance

If you need to slow down and you haven't a clue
Who is it you need, who is it that loves you
It doesn't take a genius or even a general
To see who will cry when they have your funeral

Give it some thought and maybe you will see
It isn't the business or what you may be
It's the people who love you,  that make it worth while
It's the joy you get,  when your children smile

I'm slowing it down,  I need to spend time wisely
Taking some time to know,  who is compiling
Memories in their minds of me and our time
Shared together today, yes, there's no better kind
