Sometimes I wonder
Sometimes I wonder why I have to do what they say listen to them tell me which trail I should take in the beaten forest that is life Sometimes I wonder. why I have to wake up and believe those theories that they preach accept the philosophies and the methods by which they teach But sometimes I wonder. why I have to respect my “elders” call them mr. and mrs. and sir yet respect is no name used by which to attain status. And they say to me life is not fair maybe it isn’t Sometimes I wonder. I am not foolish, nor brash, yes I am as smart as these lords who insist I am not equal. And sometimes I wonder. why I have to take for granted that they are always right but they have no proof and I’m not sure they are but they might be Sometimes I wonder. how I can trust a generation who bombs innocent countries giving tax cuts to the rich but ignoring genocides because honesty and compassion sure is a bitch Sometimes I wonder. oh, george orwell is rolling over in his grave when the president is monitoring me telling me when to who and how to behave Sometimes I wonder. is two plus two really four? and is six really only two more? Sometimes I wonder. Is the way it is just the way it is? Sometimes I wonder. But I still walk my way hoping my way is the way. I’m pretty sure I know But sometimes I wonder. Sometimes I wonder. |

Reality TV What’s in reality TV? Dishonest people searching for dishonest money Useless information for useless viewers Balloon-chested woman for sad sex appeal Uncensored cameras with censored language Dramatic characters viewed by people with undramatic lives Greedy people on a greedy TV network Staged events fooling ignorant viewers All trashy things, on a trashy show, on a trashy channel |

Ode to Coffee
Comes from countries with unpronounceable names But seems born in a grocery store Grinding beans carefully, I savor the heavenly aroma Anticipation: watching the trickle of happiness Pushing me through the week Waiting for that Drip Drip Drip Then I pour My hands surrounding the mug Warmth of feeling Warmth of smell Warmth of taste Not soiled with milk or sugar defeating Simplicity: Coffee |
