Professor Power

Real Name: Anthony Power
First Appearance: Marvel Team Up 117
Died in: Professor Power died twice. The body of Matthew Power was killed in Captain America 338, and Power's original body was destroyed in Iron Man Annual 13. Anthony Power now "lives" in the body of his dead son. Pleasant, huh?
What's His Problem? When Professor Anthony Power's son, Matthew, was in a coma as a result of traumatic combat experience in Vietnam, Power had Charles Xavier kidnapped to save his son's mind. The process failed and Matthew was left a vegetable. Unable to accept his own part in this, Power irrationally blamed Xavier, and has since dedicated himself to killing all the X-Men so Xavier can suffer like he does.
Weapons: Professor Power wears a powerful suit of armor that gives him flight, super strength, and the ability to project "alpha wave" laser blasts. Also, Matthew Power's body has been cybernetically "reanimated" so Professor Power can use it to seek revenge.
Transportation: Power also has a huge flying medieval castle. That is not a misprint.
Favorite Quote: "A heroic gesture, risking your life to save the mutants. Fruitless, unnecessary... but truly heroic." (Power confronts an exhausted Spider-Man in Spectacular Spider-Man 198.)
Heroes He Keeps Running Into: While he hates the X-Men and wants them all dead so Charles Xavier can suffer like he did, Professor Power has also found the time to hassle the Defenders. The U.S.Agent killed Power's second body when he attacked him in the middle of an escape attempt. Power's original body was destroyed in combat with the Avengers. He has often clashed with Spider-Man, and also battled X-Factor in a new cybernetic body.
People Who Think He's Not So Bad: Matthew Power looked up to and admired his father, even enough to go fight a war he didn't believe in to earn his love. Professor Power also had a deal with the Secret Empire and some unknown people are always helping him out. Spider-Man, acutely aware of the pain Power was going through over losing his son, attempted to reason with him, but it backfired.
Most Despicable Act: Having the dead body of his own son dug up so he could possess it with his own mind would definitely have to be Professor Power's worst act. He feels guilty about it, but sees it as necessary to get revenge on the man who "killed" his son. Also, there was the time he tried to start a nuclear war between Russia and America, but he's mostly dedicated to killing all of "Xavier's children" these days.
Hey, Isn't This Guy A Little Too "Power"-ful To Be A Should've Known Better? Oh, please. Power can't even keep his design theme consistant. The guy wears futuristic armored spandex (not to mention his son's body), dresses his minions up like Spartacus extras, and flies around in a castle straight out of Fantasyland. No matter how much raw power the Prof has, we're talking total loser here. -- editor Jeanne
