World Of The Living Dead
The Entities behind the Infinity Challenge send our Hereos (or Villians) to a world were the Dead have risen and destroyed the Living. Now its up to them to carry out thier challenge, while avoiding the Undead's ever hungry presence.
This is a variation that can be added to any Scenario, in order to make it even that muchmore difficult (Note: There is an additional variation, directed against Flyers, that can be used. This is covered at the end of this description). Preparing this variation is as follows:
1) Players set-up everything for the Scenario they are going to use. (choose map, place objects, place figures, etc.)
2) Players then Build a Zombie Force to be used. This is done by each Player (starting with First Player, then going around in order) selecting a Figure, and then going around until a Force equal to the ones being used by the Players is formed (ie. if Players use 300 point Forces, then Build 300 points worth of Zombies).
3) It is suggested that only Thugs, Henchmen, Con Artists, SWAT, AIM, Skrull, SHIELD, and/or Hydra, figures be used (generally any figure with a Point Value of 20 or less), although others can be with the following Rules being applied: A) No "Super Powers" can ever be used. B) No Ranged Attacks can ever be used (this includes Henchmen). C) Any "Super Powered" figure used has its Point cost cut in half, and rounded down (ie. Player uses Rookie Hulk as a Zombie, his cost drops from 103 points to 51). D) No non-living character can be used as a Zombie (ie. Vision, Ultron, etc.). E) Zombies are not allowed to use Flight at anytime.
4) Zombies never use any Powers listed on thier Dials (I know this repeats what was said above, but some SHIELD, Hydra, etc. figures have "Powers" and I wanted to be clear that these are to not to be used), also Zombies do not use any Faction Affiliations that they may have.
5) Zombies never move more then 3 squares per Turn, regardless of the Speed listed on thier Dial.
6) Zombies are then placed on the map in the same way Objects are (pg. 6-7), except they must be at least 5 squares away from any Player's Characters at the start.
The Players can now play the Scenario as normal, with the following rules added to the mix:
1) At the end of each Player's Turn they move any Zombies that are within 4 squares of a Character toward that Character (taking the shortest route possible). If more then 1 Character is within this range they head for the one with the lowest Point Value, or to whichever one is actually closest.
2) Each Zombie will attempt to enter a square adjacent to a Players Character. If they cannot enter an adjacent square they will still move in as close as possible (awaiting their turn to feed).
3) Every Zombie that is adjacent to a Player's Figure will then make an attack (regardless of whether they just moved there or whether they were moved there on a previous Turn). Zombies gain a +1 to their attack roll for each Zombie that is in an adjacent square to them (ie. a Zombie moves next to a Character and 3 other Zombies are adjacent to that Zombie, it then gains a +3 to its attack roll). The Player that just moved the Zombies, is the Player who will roll for thier attacks.
4) Zombies cause Damage as per what is listed on their Dial. Any Character KO'd by a Zombie will rise next Turn as a Zombie (The Character's Dial is reset back to its starting position for this purpose, and all Zombie Rules apply to them as for all other Zombies). Again this applies to all Characters, except for any artifical life-forms (ie. Vision, Ultron, etc.) whom just remain KO'd.
5) Any Character using mystical attacks (ie. Dr. Strange, Nightmare, etc.) gain a +1 to their Damage when hitting a Zombie.
6) Characters must roll for a Breakaway when attempting to flee from (or travel by) any Zombies, as per the Standard Breakaway Rules. Also Zombies are always considered members of an Opposing Force when determining Line-of-Sight, Movement, etc.
7) Zombies cannot be affected by any Mind Control Powers, and never need to make Breakaway rolls (if this comes up, they are considered to automatically succeed).
8) Zombies will continue to attack whatever Character they have started to attack until they KO him/her, or until the Character moves more then 4 squares away. At which time they will move on to another victim.
-Flight Variation- If Players want to get particularly nasty, they can assume that the pathogen that raised the Dead on this world is still floating in the upper atmosphere. Therefore any Character that ends their Turn Soaring automatically takes a Click of damage, and does so each Turn they end while Soaring (except non-living Characters). Also Players can determine that any Character (except non-living Characters) KO'd by any means will rise as a Zombie on the next Turn (This can be used with or without the Flying variation).
*Victory Points* Victory Points are givin out as per the Rules of whatever Scenario the Players are using. Zombies (of any kind) do not give any additional Victory Points.
