The Heroes Spider-Man, Wolverine, and Captain America are basically the best concepts that have thrived in the Marvel VS games, and they're Marvel's popular guys. They've gone through some changes, and Wolverine's character was toned down throughout the series, but the fact their gameplay can equal (or surpass) Street Fighter characters that have been around years before they were even thought of is insane. Hulk never really impressed me, I don't think he mixes well in this game due to the fact his strength should kill most opponents with one hit. Iron Man appears to be toned down severly, he's basically a slow strong guy who should be a bit faster with better projectiles. I was kinda disappointed with him, the thing I always liked about Iron Man was the other armors he had. War Machine is pretty much a toned down Iron Man, they made them similar, but they have their own character traits and moves. Most of the X-Men characters are solid, Gambit was the one I never expected to be great, he's got plenty of moves and fits perfectly in the series. Iceman is also a great character, but his special is pretty damn predictable. Cyclops can be extremely cheap, but he's kinda goofy, and they coulda done a lot better with the whole "Optic blast" thing. Colossus was a disappointment, especially since I liked his character in the comics a lot, I don't like his moves at all, and his special is pretty lame. Storm can be a cheap character to use, but the way they made her powers kinda pissed me off, but her breasts are probably the biggest in the game so I can't complain. Rogue is one of my favorites, her character was made perfect, and the whole power absorb thing really amazed me. Psylocke has gotta be the best concept, the way they made her whole psychic/fighting designs was perfect, they didn't even make her a cheap character. Marrow was a new character in the comics at the time of her creation, they did a good job creating her, but I think they only added her due to the whole Onslaught storyline from the previous game. Cable has gotta be the best new concept, despite how cheap he is and how many projectiles he has, they did a great job with the majority of his powers and weapons. The Villans Dr. Doom is definitly a great character concept, fairly accurate to the comics and they didn't overdo his powers just to make him popular. Thanos doesn't really mix well with the game, I think he's on the Hulk's level with strength, they shoulda just made him as a boss in the game. Sentinel was a great concept, he's not just some completely overpowered guy, but he's still capable of being cheap as hell, at least his assist can. Venom has always been one of my favorites, they did a great job of adding him since Spider-Man is in the game. Blackheart is a cool lookin guy, but he's too limited, I think he's probably the worst character outta the entire "Marvel" side of the game. Shuma-Gorath is another character that doesn't mix well in this game, I don't even like the way he moves in the game, but as a comic character he's on some Infinity Gauntlet shit. Juggernaut is an excellent character, he's comparable to the Hulk with his strength, but the way they designed his character was good, I'd like to see him as a boss in the game. Sabretooth is a fairly shitty character, his projectile is retarded, all his moves are kinda strange, he's definitly in need of a tune up. Spiral has no business in this game, her moves don't really mix well in the game, and she lacks popularity. Omega Red is actually a good character, they didn't make him like he is in the comics, his moves are hard to master but he's a solid character. Silver Samurai isn't that great, he's got some good moves but the majority of his attacks are too predictable, and his popularity is terrible as a character. Magneto is definitly one of the best characters, his flaw is that he's too good, he's got potential to be the cheapest character in the game, he's also the reason why there's a 'bone claw' (Bonerine) Wolverine. |
