| Brief History Of Union City | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Union City Lodge #294 operated from 1860 until surrendering its charter in 1887 for reasons unknown. Then on July 7, 1889 a group of Master Masons asked Pleasant Hill Lodge #356 (later renamed Rives Lodge) to request dispensation from Grand Lodge to form what is known as Union City Lodge #538. Brother Thomas J. Bonner a member of Rives Lodge was elected Most Worshipful Grand Master of Tennessee F&AM in 1914. In 1942 Rives Lodge consolidated with Union City. Then in 1943 the lodge building burnt and the meetings were held above the Reynolds Opera House until 1948 at which time the present lodge building was purchased. In 1957 Union City had one of it's members (Brother J. Walker Kerr) elected Most Worshipful Grand Master of Tennessee F&AM. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
