The "Worthless" Harley
Upon stopping at the garage sale, Jim noticed an object in the corner of the garage, covered by a blanket. So, Jim went up to the owner and questioned him about it. They then both proceeded to go over to this object and the owner uncovered it. It was an old Harley Davidson motorcycle. Upon inquiring about the purchase of this bike, the owner replied, "Well, it's really not up for sale...but let me see here. Well, it won't run, so it's pretty worthless. If I took it too the junkyard, I'd get about 35 dollars for it. I'll tell you what, Jim. If you can give me 35 dollars for it, it's yours." Jim agreed to the deal and took it home. A few months passed and Jim went out to his garage and decided that it was time. It was time to get that baby fixed! So, Jim got on the phone with Harley-Davidson to order parts for the bike. While on the phone with HD, they first asked him for the serial number. The man on the phone said, "Could I have your name and address please?". So, Jim gave him the appropriate information. "We'll call you back in a couple hours, ok, Jim?", he replied. A couple hours had passed, and no phone call. Jim began to wonder...."Why did they want my name and address? Oh no! I bet I have a stolen bike!". A couple days had soon passed. Finally, the phone rang. "Hello", Jim replied. "Yes, this is ***** with Harley Davidson and we have a few questions about the bike you need some parts for. First of all, we need you to go back and look under the seat and tell us if there is any writing there", said the lady on the phone. So, Jim went and looked. "Yeah, it says the King on it", Jim said. "Sir, we would be willing to give you $300,000 right now for that bike if you'd be willing to sell it", she said. "What? Ugh...let me think about it, ok?", Jim exclaimed. Click. Jim hung up the phone. The next day, Jay Leno called Jim on the phone. "Hey Jim! This is Jay Leno...and I hear you've got a motorcycle there that is pretty much a piece of junk...but hey, I'd be willing to give you $500,000 for the bike today in cold hard cash. In fact, I'll come over today and pick up the bike and deliver the money in person!", Jay said. You see, this bike, although it was a piece of junk and sat in the garage for months and months had unexplicable value. Why? Because it belonged to the "King". The King of rock and roll. Elvis Presley had ridden on this bike many years ago. In the same way, although you may think you are worthless and of no value, when you belong to the King [Jesus], God sees you as very valuable. Don't let anyone tell you differently. God loves you and wants to use you! Peace.
