Seneca Caverns

Let us step down to the bowels of the earth to discover the wonderful world of the caves.

Here is where you will see how water seeping through the minerals the earth will cause stalactites on the roof of the cave and the mininerals that drop off of the stalactites will cause stalacmites.  Eventually, after thousands of years, the two will meet and for columns.  Water inside the caves, at one time have carved out the cavity that you will be walking through, an underground river.  You will see other mineral formations that were caused by water and earth.  Also, there is history of how the Native Americans lived and used the caves, and also how the settlers had their uses for the caves, which included moonshine and storing arms.

After the tour of the cave, you may purchase a bag of dirt to take out to the back of the gift shop to do some Gemstone Mining in a sluice.  You will also recieve a plastic ziploc bag for your treasures and a postcard with the raw minerals that you will find.
