What we do at school
Phonics
We will be using the Houghton Mifflin program. Click on the boy writing the alphabet to practice our first grade sight words.
Spelling
After the review lessons, we will begin weekly spelling tests. Spelling lists will come home on Mondays. Test will be held on Fridays. Click on the Spelling Book for Spelling pratice tips.
Reading
We will be using the Houghton-Mifflin Reading series this year. Click on the book worms to practice our high frequency words and become the best reader in our class!
Math
We will be using the Houghton Mifflin math program this year. Click the boy at his desk about to practice the "Doubles Math Facts."
Science
Get ready to learn why leaves change colors in the fall!
Social Studies/History
Let's get ready to celebrate Halloween. What are you going to wear to the Halloween Parade?
Physical Education
Want to be the very best on the playing field? Start now by learning left and right. Bounce and catch a ball with your friends.
Art
Can you name the colors of all the crayons in your box? Have you learned how to read the color words? Can you draw a circle, square, triangle, and rectangle all by yourself?
Cooking
While cooking is a favorite activity and builds reading, mathematics, and observation skills, there are no funds for this enrichment activity. Please be willing to donate materials so that you child may have extra fun while learning.
Music
We will be using the Nellie Edge music/reading/sign language materials early in the year. As our talents increase we will move on to the Kiducation music program
Library
Our Librarian is  Mrs. Rentsch.  Click on the boy reading to learn how to encourage your child to put his/her new reading skills into action.
Computer Lab and Classroom Mini Lab
We will be using computers both in our classroom and at the computer lab. Please ask about the AR program.
