Frequent Questions Information:
What is the benefit of playing the piano?
Piano lesson help enhance self esteem, focus, comprehension and coordination. Piano lessons is great foundation to get basic musical knowledge- reading notation, understanding musical signs and symbols, and comprehending the rhythm.
How early can my child start piano lesson?
I suggest children take piano lessons when they become four.
Is it too late for me to start piano lesson?
It is never too late to take piano lessons. Music inspires everyone. It is a universal language. Students range from all ages and all levels including children, teenagers and adults.
What is being taught during a lesson?
Piano lesson consists of playing, ear training, and theory. Ear training is crucial for children to develop relative pitch and identify different tones while they are still young. For singing and dictation, I use solfege system. All of my students learn basic music theory to get to know what they are playing in writing. However, the amount of non-playing activities vary depending on the age and student's need.
What is lesson schedule, recommendations for weekly meetings, amount of practice?
Lesson can be taken during week after school/work hours or during the weekend. Lesson is taken once a week for beginners. Half hour lesson is recommended for beginners. Practice time ranges from 5 minutes to 1 hour per day depending on students level.
