Roses and Bee Cakes

This is actaully a cupcake that was made in the Wilton small egg shaped pan. It was then covered in yellow fondant. The black was added in strips after the yellow had time to set up. The head is a ball of black fondant rolled and placed in front of the wide end of the cupcake. Legs are rolled pieces of black fondant and placed on the sides of the bee. The wings are made of Sheet geletin and cut to the shape of wings, then placed into the sides of the yellow fondant before it is set up.

This cake was made in with a 8" cake and covered in rolled fondant. The roses are made out of gumpaste and are hand molded without using cutters. The leaves were cut from gumpaste with a leaf cutter and veined with a leaf veiner. The side lace peices are made from lace molds that I purchased. I rolled the fondant out and placed it in the molds, unmolded them and trimmed the excess fondant from them. They were placed on the side of the cake and dusted with peach petal dust. The bottom border was done with a tube 3 small shell border.
