MAN AND HIS ANSWERING MACHINE

Man has invented great and mighty things
From rocket ships to airplanes to answering machines.
The imagination of man is way out of control.
As more and more he invents things to be sold.

The wonders of man and the things he has created.
"He has no need of anything," he has stated.
He is sufficient within his own vision,
"If I need God, It'll be my decision."

"Where art thou, Adam? God did say.
The answering machine said, "I'm busy today.
Just leave you number and your name,
I'll call you back when I finish with life's games."

So they put it off and put God on hold.
Another day or time when all these machines are sold.
Until the One who walks among the candlesticks
Removes His light, then it's too late the time to pick.

There are those who say, "The Bible is God's book."
But it lays closed and they never take a look.

Then others who say, "It speaks to them."
While the Living Word is not Him."

Reading the Bible is Oh! So well
But it is a letter written, that tells.
About the Living Word born in the earth.
That will free us from sin, and discover our worth.

Communion with God, as it was in the beginning,
Will cleanse our mind, and keep us from sinning.
Union in Holy Fellowship, Is what God desires.
So, disconnect the answering machine, unplug those wires.

I love my Bible, Oh! How I love to read
But it cannot take the place of God's Holy Seed.
Planted in my heart by His spoken Word.
'Tis the sweetest sound mortal ears have ever heard.

The voice of God goes unheard,
While man searches in the written Word.

This Life of Christ cannot be seen
Because God is on hold, and on the answering machine.
