Dear Auntie MJ,
You’re so lucky to have met someone like Lori! How
can I find a significant other who will accept my crossdressing? The last
girl I told (after 3 months of dating) called me a pervert and walked out on
me.
Lonely Lisa
Dear Lisa,
First of all, don’t give up in your search - but don’t go crazy
if you don’t get any positive results right away. If you haven’t
already, consider placing an ad on-line, and get a letter and picture published
in a transgender magazine such as Lady Like or Transformation. Chances are
that hanging out at a gay/lesbian or transgender bar is not going to work, but
try it anyway. When you start dating someone (who is unaware of your
crossdressing) try to find a way to tell her as soon as possible about your
habits. This serves two purposes - one, your emotional involvement will
not have peaked yet, and two, women detest being lied to. If she doesn’t
run away immediately after you tell her, then you have a chance. A support
group, such as Tri Ess’s SPICE, may help her come to an understanding of who you
are. If you haven’t joined a support group such as Tri Ess yet, consider
it - one of the members may know just the right (genetic) girl for you!
