Gorilla Rumor is Just Imagination A widespread rumor which claimed a gorilla was at large and was repeated throughout the county for the past two weeks was discounted this morning by the sheriff's office, which said no such animal is loose. The office said a check of the game warden, state police, and coast guard showed no such animal had escaped. Reports had it that a gorilla escaped from a boat near Chesapeake City and was loose in the countryside. Police officers and newspapers have received many calls from people who reported the animal seen and from others who were inquiring about the truth of the rumor.
