FATIMA CELL PROGRAM FOR OCTOBER

Themes

The Most Holy Rosary: On October 13, 1917, Our Lady said: "I am the Lady of the Rosary." In every single one of her apparitions she asked for the daily Rosary. Consequently we honor Her as "Our Lady of the Rosary of Fatima." Pray the family Rosary daily with devotion and meditation; live the Rosary by imitating what it contains, that we may obtain what it promises; participate in the new "Rosary Crusade" which, in centuries past, has turned back the powers of diabolical Islam and Communism; promote membership in the Crusaders of the Holy Rosary; make and distribute Rosaries and leaflets on how to say it devoutly.

The Holy Angels: Our Lady's visit at Fatima was preceded by that of an Angel, just as in her apparition at Marienfried, which manifests the special role of these blessed spirits in God's plan for our Redemption and salvation. We pray daily that God's Will "be done on earth as it is in Heaven" by the Holy Angels. Their unique power to assist us in living as true apostles of Our Lady of Fatima depends upon our recognition of their presence, and fervently invoking them, especially our own Guardian Angels, to whom we should have a special devotion. Special feasts this month: Oct. 2 - The Holy Guardian Angels; Oct. 22 - Our Lady, Queen of the Angels; Oct. 24 - St. Raphael the Archangel; and Oct. 26 - The Seven Holy Spirits who stand before the Throne of God, and the Nine Choirs of Angels.
Christ the King: The last Sunday of October is the Feast of Christ the King, in Whose honor Pope Pius XI wrote a beautiful encyclical entitled "Quas Primas", pointing out that the terrible evils of our age all stem from the fact that the Universal Kingship of Christ has been rejected by modern society. This, ultimately, is the only way to the true amendment of life for which Our Lady pleaded at Fatima, i.e., that we allow Christ and His supreme law to reign as King over our hearts, our homes, our families, our society; and the best means to achieve this goal is by the total Consecration to the Sacred Heart of Christ our King through the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

First Meeting

  1. THE MOST HOLY ROSARY: a) the history and significance of the Rosary; b) Discuss the repeated emphasis on the daily recitation of the Rosary in the apparitions of the Mother of God, especially at Fatima, where She appeared as Our Lady of the Rosary; c) the proper manner of praying the Rosary - devoutly, with meditation on each mystery d) the importance of the taking seriously our obligations as Crusaders of the Most Holy Rosary. (15 min. report - 10 min. discussion)
Reference: "The Secret of the Rosary"; audiotape sermon "I am the Lady of the Rosary; encyclical "Laetitiae Sanctae" of Pope Leo XIII; encyclical "Augustissimae Virginis Mariae" of Pope Leo XIII on the Confraternity of the Holy Rosary; The Crusaders of the Most Holy Rosary.
  1. THE POPE SPEAKS: "TO RESTORE ALL THINGS IN CHRIST": This year marks the 100th anniversary of Pope St. Pius X’s encyclical E Supremi, calling for a "Catholic Restoration of all things in Christ". Read and discuss parts 6-10 of the encyclical, reminding us of the infinite Justice of God which shall "break the heads of His enemies." As Our Lady of Fatima confirmed, "War is a punishment for sin", and true peace is the work of God’s Justice alone. But there can be no Divine Justice which is not based upon Christ Jesus, "Whom the Father hath sent into the world." Moreover, if men are to find Christ, it is only through the One, True Church which He founded, whose inviolable teachings and holy discipline provide the only authentic solution to the wickedness of our age. (15 min. report, 10 min. discussion) Reference: Encyclical of Pope St. Pius X, parts 6-10.
  1. COURT OF OUR HEAVENLY QUEEN—THE HOLY GUARDIAN ANGELS: How does meditating upon the lives of the Blessed in Heaven inspire us to a more perfect living of our consecration to our Heavenly Queen? See this month's secondary theme (above) (10 min. report, including brief discussion of the lessons learned and virtues taught by the example of the Holy Angels, and how to practically apply their virtues in our own daily lives.)

SECOND MEETING

  1. MARY IN DOCTRINE & DEVOTION: Divine Maternity of the Blessed Virgin Mary; Our Lady of El Pilar; Our Lady of Zapopan; Our Lady of Fatima - October apparition; the Purity of the Blessed Virgin Mary; the Thrice Admirable Mother of Ingolstadt; Mary, Queen of the Angels (15 min. report - 10 min. discussion)
Reference: Articles from The Marian Series - The Miracle of Our Lady of Fatima, Our Lady of El Pilar & Zapopan; "The Glories of Mary" by Liguori; sermon - "I am the Lady of the Rosary;" Sermon - "The Thrice Admirable Queen of Ingolstadt, the Holy Rosary, and the Angels" by Bishop Francis Konrad Maria.
  1. PRAYER, THE CHIEF DUTY OF THE CHRISTIAN: The Necessity of Prayer—Prayer is a duty not only recommended by way of counsel, but also commanded by obligatory precept. Our Divine Lord Himself was to His Apostles a model of prayer; He not only prayed assiduously, but also watched whole nights in prayer. Our temporal and spiritual necessities are so varied, that we must have recourse to prayer as the best means for communicating our wants and receiving whatever we need. Since God owes nothing to anyone, we must ask of Him in prayer those things we need, seeing that He has established prayer as a necessary means to obtain what we need, especially since it is clear that there are blessings which we cannot hope to obtain otherwise than through prayer. Thus devout prayer has such efficacy that it is a most powerful means of casting out demons; for there is a certain kind of demon which is not cast out but by prayer and fasting. (10 min. report, 10 min. discussion)

  1. COURT OF THE QUEEN: How does meditating upon the lives of the saints inspire us to a more perfect living of our consecration to our Heavenly Queen? Read the following list of October saints: St. Remigius, Bishop of the Franks; St. Therése the Little Flower; St. Francis of Assisi; St. Bruno of Cologne; St. Dionysius (Holy Helper); St. Teresa of Avila; St. Margaret Mary Alacoque; St. Anthony Mary Claret; St. Ursula; also, the Great Catholic Explorer, Christopher Columbus, who sailed to extend the reign of Christ the King and to drive the Moslems out of the Holy Land and to protect Catholic Spain. Read the accounts of two or three of these saints followed by brief discussion of the lessons learned and virtues taught by these accounts, and practical application of the virtues of these saints in our own daily lives. (10 min. report & discussion)
    Reference: Martyrology.

THIRD MEETING

  1. THE CONFRATERNITY OF THE MOST HOLY ROSARY: The Holy Father assigns the pre-eminent place among Catholic associations to the Confraternity of the Most Holy Rosary. Its "very soul" is the Holy Rosary of Our Lady, the most excellent of all prayers after the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. Those who practice this manner of prayer will never fail to obtain abundant graces, blessings, and certain spiritual fruit. Just as by the recitation of the Divine Office, priests offer a public, constant, and most efficacious supplication; so the supplication offered by the members of this Confraternity in the recitation of the Rosary, or "Psalter of Our Lady," as it has been styled by some of the Popes, is also in a way public, constant, and universal. The Confraternity of the Holy Rosary is "an army of prayer, enrolled by St. Dominic, under the banner of the Mother of God," uniting its members together in a common bond of paternal or military fellowship; so that a mighty host is thereby formed, duly assembled and arrayed, to repel the assaults of the enemy, both from within and without. (15 min. report - 10 min. discussion)
Reference: encyclical "Augustissimae Virginis Mariae" of Pope Leo XIII on the Confraternity of the Holy Rosary (1897).
  1. THE POPE SPEAKS: "TO RESTORE ALL THINGS IN CHRIST": Continue Pope St. Pius X’s encyclical E Supremi, calling for a "Catholic Restoration of all things in Christ". Read and discuss parts 11—12, which treats of the essential role of the priest, the "image of Christ to form Him in others". Consequently, any genuine restoration of the Christian ideal must place a wholesome emphasis upon proper priestly training and formation. Discuss the deterioration of this crucial element in the Divine Plan for Redemption in the decades leading up to the great apostasy of Vatican II, and identify the same tragic tendency amongst the phony traditionalists of our own day. (10 min. report, 10 min. discussion)
Reference: Encyclical of Pope St. Pius X, parts 11-12.
  1. THE HOLY GUARDIAN ANGELS: Read selections from the booklet "Walking with St. Raphael", and discuss means of growing in our devotion to this Angelic Prince of the Heavenly Court. Review in particular his role as a healer of the sick, patron of travellers, and wise counsellor of those called to the trials of the marriage vocation. (15 min. report, including discussion of the lessons learned and virtues taught by the Biblical account of St. Rapahel's assistance in the Book of Tobias.
Reference: "Walking with St. Raphael"; audiotape sermon "St. Raphael the Archangel, Angel of Hope and Joy."

  2. FOURTH MEETING

  3. THE KINGSHIP OF CHRIST: The Kingship of Jesus Christ - review part IV of the Article "The Reign of Christ the King", discussing "The Church and Democracy", explaining how the Holy Fathers have absolutely condemned the false notion that the authority of the state can derive from "the will of the people", for "there is no power but from God", and no government (or its people) is entitled to resist the will of God. Review the Masonic "Declaration of the Rights of Man" which represent a formal attack upon the sovereignty of Christ the King.
Reference: "The Reign of Christ the King" - part IV; Pastoral Letter for the Feast of Christ the King; sermon "The Reign of Christ the King" by Bishop Francis Konrad Maria. (15 min. report - 10 min. discussion)

Reference: Introduction to the Catechism, part four.
  1. COURT OF THE QUEEN: How does meditating upon the lives of the saints inspire us to a more perfect living of our consecration to our Heavenly Queen? This week: Our Lady, Queen of All Saints; the Seven Blessed Spirits who stand before the Throne of God; Ss. Simon and Jude; St. Alphonsus Rodriguez. (10 min. report, including brief discussion of the lessons learned and virtues taught by these accounts, and practical application of the virtues of these saints in our own daily lives.)
