AM I LIKE A MOTH BALL?

By Mary Lois Bierman

Sometimes when things come to my mind, they seem rather odd to compare something spiritutal to. I guess this is one of those times.

This morning I was reading in Rev. about how Phill. assembly was told they had guarded the Word, and had not denied His name. Of the next assembly He mentioned as being luke warm, and the following is what popped into my mind.

Am I am moth ball?

Anyone that has ever seen a nice new shiny moth ball knows within weeks it will change. It gradually evaporates. These is no way to stop the process as long as it is exposed to air.

Each day even if we do not realize it, we are exposed to some thing that will, if left unchallenged eat away at us. Some things we do not have total control of, and some we have no control over at all.

[ Well, kitty just now jumped up in my lap, and decides I am the perfect place to take a nap on, and am I having a hard time typing.)

Each of us like that moth ball evaporates spiritually, if we do not put into our life a steady stream of contact with our Father through prayer, praise, reading the scriptures to let Him talk to us.

The moth ball can never be restored. Its whole purpose is to do a work through the evaporation process. Not so for us. Once we start growing away from our Father through letting other things take precedent in our lives, it is hard to be restored. Some times a person goes so far they do not care anymore. The Spirit of our Father moves out, as it is not wanted, needed nor does it want to say where sin abounds.

Father, help all those who are in love with you, are are being called according to your purpose as we see in Romans 8:28 and Eph 1:11, to be renewed day by day in the inward being. Help us to draw close to you. We see if we draw close to you that you will draw close to us. Oh Father, what a wonderful promise we can cling to, hold on to.
