USING OUR FATHER'S THINGS
By Lois Bierman

When I was praying this morning, I thought about situations where someone was asked if they could use something. They were told they could not, and it was just and act of unkindness, or selfishness. Later they find out that the one they told no to, was the owner of what they wanted to use.

I can remember when I was about 19 years of age and was visiting sister. My nephews, and niece were playing with a base ball. An elderly man was sitting under the trees watching us. I had known him from childhood, and he was always kind to me. He asked if he could play ball with us, and I told him no. Later I found out it was his ball we were playing with. It still haunts me to this day of how unkind I was.

I got to thinking about how our Father owned everything. Through His Son He created all things. I thought about many aspects of this. How He owned time, and told us which was our time, and which was HIS. We had no right to use HIS time in a way He said was not allowable.

Then my mind wondered to other things. He owns all living things, and just like He told the first man and woman what they were allowed to eat in the garden, we to are told what we are allowed to eat of His creatures, and which ones He says we can not have. He owns them, so He has that right to say what we can eat of it.

I thought of the earth, seeds, and other things that He gave us instructions on how to plant them. How the earth was His, and all the bounty of it. What to mix and not mix. He has this right to tell us exactly what we may or may not do.

He owns everything we touch, feel, and the air we breath. He has set down rules as to what we may do with it. He is ultimate owner, ruler, and substainer of it. No one else has a right to do what they want, or like with it.

Yet in all of this, He has been so merciful. What He has asked us to do is not burdensome. It is for the good of all.

When will we learn that all we have, our homes, clothes, food, and anything else is His. We have a right to use it, but He has all right to govern how it is used. How do we honor Him with what belongs to Him? How do we take care of it? It is in our care, but not our will as to how we use it, if contrary to the Fathers will.

Do we stand in awe like a person that learns that the person they are before, and have been careless in actions to, owns all they are touching at that moment, of the one that owns all we touch and see? Do we use it with knowledge that at all times we are doing it before Him, with Him watching?

Lets stand in awe that all we have belongs to Him, and we belong to Him too. In belonging to Him, just as He has told us how to use the substance He so generously provides for us, He tells us our body is not our own, and how we are to use it, treat it, feed, cloth it and use our time. He owns our time too. His time to rest, and the time He tells us to rest are in agreement.

Do we give thanks to Him, for the provisions He gives us, and letting us use His things?

Praise our Father, that He in all things wants harmony to exist in our lives with Him, and others.
