Help Put A Ban On The Importation Of Wild Caught Birds

The wild bird trade is cruel and inhumane and is one of the biggest contributors to the decline of many bird species.  The mortality of the birds during trapping and shipping is high-too high.  Generally, the money that the wild bird traders earn from selling wild-caught birds greatly exceeds that which they could earn doing something else, and while there is demand for cheap exotic pet birds, the traders are more than happy to provide them.  So, don't ever ever ever buy an imported or suspected imported bird.  Not only is this supporting and encouraging the cruel and damaging wild bird trade, but you're not doing yourself any favours.  Wild-caught birds don't make good pets because they will never trust humans.  Would you trust humans after the ordeal that they are forced to go through?  And don't forget- the birds are wild. They won't thrive in captivity and will only resent you.  When purchasing a bird, do your homework.  Ask to see the birds parents and check out the background of the person you are buying from.  If in doubt-don't!
