Betrayal In The
Garden
As our Lord knelt in the garden,
He prayed for strength and wept,
For He knew they'd come soon for Him,
Though the twelve a vigil kept.
He knew what all would happen,
Then He saw them coming by.
They would take Him before Pilate
And betray Him with their lies.
Judas came to Him and kissed Him,
It was the kiss of death.
Jesus knew this and forgave him,
Though he never would be blessed.
Then Peter became angry
And quickly drew his sword.
He cut the soldier's ear off,
He would defend his Lord.
But Jesus spoke then to him,
"My dear, Peter, not this way."
He then restored the soldier's ear,
As His Hands upon it lay.
He was taken before Pilate
And the people did demand,
That Jesus be the one to die -
A thief be a free man.
They stripped Him of His garments,
Put thorns upon His head.
Nailed Him to a wooden cross -
Before long He was dead.
For thirty pieces of silver,
Judas sold his soul.
He betrayed his precious Savior,
He believed he'd reached is goal.
But guilt lay heavy on him,
He could not stand the thought,
That liers and deceivers,
His soul from him had bought.
He was devastated, shattered.
His soul was filled with strife.
He walked into a field
And there he took his life.
For thirty pieces of silver,
He betrayed the One he loved,
And gave up a final resting place
For himself in Heaven above.
Do not be like Judas,
Listen very well.
For Judas will spend eternity,
Grieving in Satan's hell.
