The beginning of November brought back memories of 25 to 28 years ago. We spent several days babysitting for our three granddaughters (and their puppy, Jack.) Somehow our level of energy is not the same as it was back then! But, we did have a great time and enjoyed seeing how they are growing.
Back home once again, we got back into dealing with the affairs of getting Tom's parents settled. After consulting with several different doctors, the family decided that Tom's mother would go to live at the same facility where his dad is living. If she responds to the rehabilitation program it is possible that she may go to a different place in the future. But, that will be our goal for the present. The whole family is much more comfortable now that Mother and Father both have help when they need it, 24 hours a day.
The weekend of November 10, our daughter and the threee granddaughters came to visit. The house was once again filled with energy and activity. Ann accomplished the great task of cleaning out the accumulation of things in her room while the girls delighted in playing with many things from "mommy's childhood." They had a good visit, also, with their great-grandparents.
Tom and I took a big step this week and have listed our home for sale. Being on the road much of the year it seems somewhat foolish to have the expense of a big home. It has been nice to have a place to come home to this fall, but even with the responsible house sitter that we have, the upkeep and expense is something we'd rather not have. Homes in the area traditionally do not sell quickly, so we'll see what happens.
We finished up the month of November in a flurry of activity...having dinners with good friends, checking on a few details for Tom's parents, organizing the affairs around the house and packing things for travel. On Wednesday, Nov. 28 we loaded up the Bounder and headed out once again. Our first stop was Marysville for a few more hugs. Then it was on through southern Ohio and into West Virginia and Virginia..heading south.
Our first few days on the road again felt a little strange...and we had some poor weather. We were glad, however, that fall in the Toledo area had been an unusually warm and sunny one. We had not found it necessary to "winterize" the RV and it was ready to travel the minute we were. We have also been happy to find that gas prices are falling - and hope that trend continues..at the moment around $1.03 a gallon.
