The Scoob's Chronicales
2007 Preseason Update
February 26,2007 - Well just a couple more weeks beforwe get back to the track. Jim has been working on the car the last sevearl weeks and the only thing holding us up right now is sheet metal. Our normal supplier has been out and with some luck it looks like this Wedsnday we'll go pick it up, then get it bent up to look the rest of the car and get it painted in the next 2 weeks. Jim has also been procuring some parts over the winter and he'll be changing up some things as the season progresses. Next up will be cleaning up the tow rig and trailer so we look presentable going down the road this year. No more open trailer this year, Jim has done a little hustling over the winter and we now have a 32 foot enclosed goose neck so I can travel in style, you know it's not easy riding in the wind picking the bugs out of my eyes and teeth all the way, sometimes ya just got to put your paw down.
We have to introduce a new
Marketing Partner we picked up this year. Randy Jones of Jones Tire Service, he is located in the Edmund Community on Hwy 302 and specializes in good used tires.  Randy has come onboard to take care of any tire mounting services we might need. So if ya need a tire and are a little low on cash, stop by and Randy can get ya going again.
Gordon Park will start off their season with a 2 day show Friday March 23rd & Saturday March 24th featuring Crate Late Models running their feature and qualifiing for our regular classes on Firday night. Then on Saturday night all our regular classes run their features and we will share this spotlight with Super Late Models who will qualify and run their feature the same night.
On Saturday March 31st we willl particapate in the I-20 Speedway Car Show at the NAPA Distribution Center at 2255 Airport Blvd in Cayce, SC and see if we can possibally snag a trophy.
One more exciting thing this year too. Jim went and had a Drivers Suit made for me to go along with my helmet so that I'll be a little more protected this year. Now if that don't dress up the car some, I don't know what will.

Sat April 7, 2007: Did we race? No! To say it very bluntly, it was tooooo cold! Jim got me a drivers suit this year but it ain't insulated. Are we ready to race? Oh Scooby Dooby Dooooo we are, next week if the predicted rain holds off. I know Jim's ready, he was pacing back and forth talking to someone (?) trying to decide whether to go or not, I kept saying "if you go, leave me home where it's warm, and leave me some Scooby snacks too". In the end Jim decided that watching the Busch race n TV was a much better choice, so one more week and it's time. By the way, Jim's working on getting some pictures posted of the car. So stay tuned in the meanwhile, have a Scooby Doo Day. See ya da the races.

Sat April 21, 2007: After last week being called for the forcast of some pretty nasty weather a real race day has arrived and to top it off, Jim has 17 cars in his class to content with. So to get right to it Jim draws a 19  which lines him up 7th in the second heat. The track was pretty loose and with a lot of sliding cars in front and a iritable push (track maybe?) Jim ends up 7th but in one piece with all gauges looking good but me being blinded by a chunck of mud on my goggles.  Anyway JIm and Chuck (Jim's big brother-in-law, and I do mean BIG) check out the car with Jim thinking the push was mostly track (I din't think so and you know they don't listen to me much, woof), make some tire pressure changes then disappear on me.
Feature time and Jim lines up in the 14th starting spot. Well the green drops and off we go. Jim gets by a couple cars, 1 or 2 go to the rear after a couple of spins. with about 4 to go and a caution Jim nopticed the water temp was up a little but was ok. The green returns for 1 lap with Jim moving up to 8th but hence a yellow. On this yellow the ole water temp decides it's tea time. Jim figures no sense trying to fry the motor and pulls in for the night. He ends up being credited for 13th. He also noticed the push didn't go away, but evrything looks good and we'll lall load it up, head home and get it ready for next week. See ya at the 'Park (Gordon Park Speedway) next week.

Sat April 28, 2007: Here we are back for another exciting Saturday night at the 'Park. well Jim went to draw for his starting spot and he gets a 5!. Not bad but tonight the car count is down a little and there's only 9 other cars to contend with. During the week Jim had found that when he mounted the tires on the car somehow the backs got swapped with the fronts which is why he has that push last week(see they shoulda listed to me). Anyway heat time and Jim lines up 2nd row inside. On the green the car stumpled for some reason and Jim gets to be the meat in a sandwich down into turn 1. By the time the car really clears up, he's running 7th. The good news is no push. Rest of the heat is uneventful. Between the heat and feature Chuck and Jim do a little brain work(Rutt Row), change some tire pressures, check out the car and it's ready for the feature.
Feature time and Jim lines up 7th. On the green, he gets a little heat from a couple of cars behind with a little contact but motors on. The race was fairly uneventful and with a little luck and a late race caution Jim work us to a 5th place finish. Not bad, we'll take it. Jim did noticed that even though the car handled real good, we still need the new head and cam that hopefully will be here this week. Anyway with everthing looking good, except for a little rub in the side and a peeled off bead on the left rear tire, 1st lap damage, we're loaded and headed to the shop and get er' ready for next week. Maybe we can get a couple more positions. See ya at the Park' next week along with the National Late Model Series coming in for visit. Don't miss us, see ya.
