Megadeth October 25, 2004 @ The Grove of Anaheim |
|||||||||||
On October 25th I saw Megadeth for the second time. The first time I wasn't a fan yet so I really don't remember their set from 2000 on the Maximum Rock tour. But shortly after I became a fan, and wanted to see them on the "World Needs a Hero" tour in 2001 but wasn't able to. I wanted to catch this show but wasn't sure if I was going. I joined the fan club in hopes of winning a Meet and Greet pass, otherwise I was not going to attend the show. Turns out I got the email the morning of the show indicating that I had in fact won a Meet and Greet pass! So I quickly went on Tickermaster and bought a ticket to be picked up at will call. As for the show. It was very loud. I wish there were more songs from CTE-RISK but the old fans like the older songs. Dave said two interesting things during the show. First, he said he moved back to California! He said still loves Arizona but likes it here better! HAHA Second, before Die Dead Enough he said he wrote that song a few years ago for the Tombraider movie, but then he knew it was gonna suck (grabbed his crotch at this point) and decided to keep the song for himself! DDE is one of my favorite songs off "The System Has Failed" and it sounded great live. My favorite song of the night was probably "In My Darkest Hour", it sounded the best to me. "A Tout Le Monde" sounded awesome as well. OK, now for the meet and greet after the show! Once they let us into this cocktail lounge where the band I was I didn't know what to do with myself. At first Dave was speaking with some people that were already in there, so the dudes in front of me waited for him to finished, as did I. I was the third person in line so once the two dudes in front of me were done talking with Dave I just forgot who I was and fumbled for words. I felt like an ass and probably looked like one too! But it was cool, I kept thanking him for coming to Anaheim and playing. He said sincerely said "thank you". He said they almost didn't come here. I said "well ya gotta come to Anaheim!" and he said that it wasn't because of Anaheim, but they almost cancelled the first week of the tour because of the drummer switch. But he said the guys were real fighters and they made it. He also said that he liked them so much that he's thinking about recording an album with them! I met a guy from the message board while in line for the meet and greet and he got a camera in. I asked if he'd take a picture of me and Dave and he graciously did! It was so cool to get to meet Dave, talk with him, shake his hand, get his autograph and take a picture with him. He was extremely sincere. After that I followed the dude from the message board toward Shawn and Glen. Shawn (the new drummer) was very sincere too. He seems to be on the soft-spoken side, which I usually am too. I just thanked him and Glen for coming and fighting it through learning the songs, and I got Glen's autograph too! Thanks Dave and megadave for giving fans this opportunity, I never win anything so this was an awesome, whirlwind experience. Thanks to the rest of the new band, Glen, Shawn and James for kicking ass and fighting it through to make the start of the tour! Below is the pass I won, Dave Mustaine's signature and Glen Drover's signature (both in the "Risk" CD booklet. |
